Three Poems by Mary Billy

I AM WATER

I am water
I take the path of least resistance
When I bounce against the rocks
I do not make sparks
But scatter
And fall back upon myself

I am water
I flow around and carry on
There is no going back
There is no looking back
I am water
I am heading for the ocean

Sophia

(Goddess of Wisdom, Queen of Heaven)

I saw her there, the old woman

In the shadows of the grotto

She was stooped

And wore an old brown coat.

She didn't look up until

I asked her the question

With my mind's eye

She said: You already know

Gert told you years ago

All the answers are within you.

Then I asked: But what is important?

She opened her palm, showed me, and said:

Small feathers, seeds,

The touch of a kind hand,

And stillness

There Comes A Time

A short time before the leaving
When there is no more that can be done
No thing left to wound,
There comes a time when the shell softens

All is light
Until it dims

This the valley
The vale/veil of tears
The right of passage
This might be the way

How does that saying go?

"Which way were they going?
How many of them were there?
How fast were they going?
I must find them, I am their leader."

Ah yes.
